Sri Lanka, our island nation is currently battling its worst political and economic crisis, a crisis that has inflicted widespread misery in the worst downturn since the independence in 1948.
Day by day the cost of living is rising rapidly and the people are finding it very difficult to bear this type of hardship. The economic crisis has affected not only the day to day lives of the people in general, but also our believers, our field-co-workers and their families, and the work of the UCF ministry.
Protests by general public are continuing around the country the past few weeks and there is a severe shortage of gas, fuel and basic essential food and other much needed items which is causing the no income families much suffering. Sometimes, these families cannot afford to have even one meal a day which is saddening to us. Daily long-hour power cuts have also made life so difficult to every one of us. Such a situation has not arisen in the history of Sri Lanka.
We are sharing this with our brothers and sisters requesting for your prayers as people of God that in His Mercy He will ease the situation in the country and take away the burden of its people. The country needs good governance and honest leadership and our only hope is in the Lord and the encouragement of our prayer partners.
Psalm 23: 1-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.
Your continuous prayers and encouragement is greatly appreciated at this moment.
Please pray:
