In It Together in The Philippines

October 1, 2024

Joe and Jacob recently went on a trip to The Philippines where they were able to connect with existing Links partners and also build relationships with new ones. It was a great time and they saw God moving powerfully during their time there.

During their trip they visited partners Kalayaan Ministries, where Joe had the privilege of speaking at the church there. It was amazing seeing God moving powerfully during their time there, bringing healing and restoration to many. They also spent a day carrying out some initial leadership development training. With the Kalayaan social worker, they were able to visit many homes around the community, praying with individuals.

They visited Kalungan Ministries where they went to care homes, schools and drop-in centres for children who have been rescued and need a safe place away from exploitation or danger. From educational programs, therapy and counselling to rehabilitation and rehousing - it was so inspiring to see and hear about all that the Lord has done through them.

They visited Jigsaw Kids Ministries and witnessed the work they do into a number of slum communities. They visited their children and youth programme sin a number of settings. For both children and youth there is age appropriate activities, worship and teaching. Joe and Jacob were able to share at Rivers ofLiving Water Church, which is the primary church of a network of 60 churches and also serves as the home church community for Jigsaw Kids. There was an amazing time of God ministering and bringing healing to people, including thePastor who told them that God had healed him of a long term back condition! Thank you Jesus.

Joe says:
It has been such an honour and privilege to teach, train and share in lots of different contexts during our time here in The Philippines. We believe that we are ’in it together’ to see lives changed and communities transformed! I have been so impacted by the work of partners here, both those we have worked with for many years and also wonderful new connections. We are looking forward to seeing all the ways how we can continue to work together to confront poverty and create potential!

Jacob says:
This trip was my first with Links to see our partners and it was an incredible time, full of joy, freedom and breakthrough. It was amazing to see the great work that our partners do here on the ground, despite some really difficult situations. Taking time to encourage the pastors at Kalayaan was really special, getting to see the work of Kalungan was also incredible, and being welcomed so amazingly by the team and youth at Jigsaw Kid’s Ministries was such a blessing. We look forward to continuing the conversation with these organisations about how Links can continue to support them and their projects in the months ahead.
