This month, Sam, our Africa Region Director, travelled to Uganda to meet and train with East African partners. The Links Africa Hub’s presence in Kenya has allowed us to deepen relationships and make more frequent site visits across this region.
Partner Highlight: Uganda Women Concern Ministries
In Mbale, Sam connected with Uganda Women Concern Ministries (UWCM). Esther, the organisation’s director, and her team have embraced two of Links’ core focus areas: Faith and Business.
Faith: Leadership Character and Team Culture
Our interactive training explored both “Heart” (character) and “Smart” (skills) dimensions of effective leadership:

For example, in a crisis, team activists must be empowered to speak up and act, while team reflectors may pause too long to effectively act. During project planning, giving team reflectors time to think ensures activists can implement well-defined and reasoned objectives.
Business: Micro Enterprise Development (MED)
As UWCM refines its management model, the team recognised a need for independent income streams to empower staff and volunteers. We reintroduced MED a few years back, and team members showcased how their small businesses are transforming both the organisation and their households:

Our partnership with UWCM illustrates how combining Faith leadership training with sustainable Business initiatives can strengthen and build teams to be more impactful in the communities they serve.

Stepping into Ghana for the very first time felt like walking back into the roots of Links International’s story. It was here, over 40 years ago, that our founders Norman and Grace Barnes first connected with inspiring missionaries and began building the partnerships that would shape Links’ mission.

South Sudan is the world’s newest country, having gained independence from Sudan in 2011. Unfortunately, despite abundant natural resources, it is also the world’s poorest country. Here is an update from our amazing Act4You project, Supporting Child Health in South Sudan.

In Malawi over a decade ago, in a small rural community, Links took a chance on what many thought was just a fad - moringa trees, sensationalised at the time as 'Miracle Trees'. Packed with vitamins and minerals, edible for both humans and livestock, fast‑growing and hardy in hot climates, these trees seemed to have real potential.
