Church Connect: Rivers in Malawi

November 4, 2026

River Church Marlow & Seeds of Promise
River Church Marlow (RCM) partnered with Seeds of Promise (Seeds) on their third team visit to Malawi. Over the last year, the partnership has focused on team building and leadership development with Seeds' management team and volunteers. This visit, the training centred on communication and team collaboration.

Luwani and the Seeds team expressed how valuable these sessions have been in helping their departmental leaders work together more effectively and advance their mission in the community.

The RCM team also introduced the Community Healthcare SHINE programme to key volunteers, with hopes of seeing it develop further in future visits.

MED continues to thrive, with all 12 borrowers from the first loan cycle having now successfully repaid their loans.

Alongside the training, there was plenty of time for fellowship, prayer, laughter, and shared meals, continuing to strengthen the relationship between the two communities.
Riverside Church & Abundant Life Center
During the same week, Riverside Church from Southwell visited Malawi for their first Church Connect with Abundant Life Center (ALC). Erik and Sandra Hoving represented Riverside as they explored the potential of this new partnership.

Moses Njobvu and the ALC team immersed them in the rhythms of Malawian life through home visits, feeding programmes, worship, community activities and lots of dancing! They also saw firsthand the impact of ALC's MED programme, which has helped establish more than 50 businesses over the past two years.

Riverside left encouraged by ALC's holistic mission to bring hope, faith, and practical support to vulnerable members of the community.
Looking Ahead
The rivers of hope continue to flow in and out of Malawi through relationships built across borders.
