Ann, Mandy and Paula from our Links team have recently got back from a trip to Malawi, visiting Sam and our partners. Ann, our Community Healthcare Manager, lead the trip and for Paula and Mandy, it was there first ever Links trip! It was an amazing time for all involved and we have loved hearing all about it on their return.
Here is a summary of their time in Malawi:
The Malawi trip was an awesome restart of CHC training, face-to-face. We met two CHC teams, one having been established for 10 years or so and the other a newly formed team. It was great to connect with them and hear their stories. To be welcomed so warmly into their villages with singing, dancing and such joy! To stand back while they found their own ways forward, in the challenges they face.
We also met many partners during the Africa Summit. The theme, ‘Wider and Deeper’ seemed entirely apt for a conference located on the edge of the great Lake Malawi. It was humbling to hear how in different ways, God was leading each one to ‘walk on water’. The song ‘Oceans’ was a constant refrain in my mind over the 12 days.
‘You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail…’
Then that invitation to join our prayers together with theirs, as we sing -
‘Spirit lead me, where my trust is without borders,
Let me walk upon the waters,
Wherever You would call me…’
AND, here is my contribution in ‘What 3 words?’
God at work
Sight, smell, sounds
Touch, taste, emotions
Faces to names
Stories, connected, interwoven
Past, present, future
Warmth, beauty, poverty
Dancing, singing, embraced
Life, joy, worship
Survive, nurture, flourish
God at work

The trip to Malawi was amazing. Malawi is a beautiful country with beautiful, inspirational people. We were made to feel so welcome. I was sad to leave, but a piece of Malawi is now lodged in my heart. It's an impossible place to forget..

Stepping into Ghana for the very first time felt like walking back into the roots of Links International’s story. It was here, over 40 years ago, that our founders Norman and Grace Barnes first connected with inspiring missionaries and began building the partnerships that would shape Links’ mission.

South Sudan is the world’s newest country, having gained independence from Sudan in 2011. Unfortunately, despite abundant natural resources, it is also the world’s poorest country. Here is an update from our amazing Act4You project, Supporting Child Health in South Sudan.

In Malawi over a decade ago, in a small rural community, Links took a chance on what many thought was just a fad - moringa trees, sensationalised at the time as 'Miracle Trees'. Packed with vitamins and minerals, edible for both humans and livestock, fast‑growing and hardy in hot climates, these trees seemed to have real potential.
