At the Links Africa Hub in Kenya the newly-formed Community Based Organisation (CBO), Peacemakers Links prepared to host its second members’ meeting of 2025. This June, we were joined by Luwani from Seeds of Promise, who offered training in sustainable farming techniques practiced at their community farm in Malawi.
Like Links, Luwani—director of our partner organisation Seeds of Promise—believes poverty stems from a breakdown in four key relationships: with God, ourselves, one another, and creation. The relationship with creation is often overlooked when we speak of building the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.
Luwani encouraged over 40 Peacemakers Links community members to begin restoring this connection with creation through sustainable use of the natural environment. He shared practical ways to feed the soil and protect natural resources from erosion and declining yields.
Peacemakers Links CBO continues to grow, now boasting over 100 members and 17 community groups. It provides a vital structure through which Links can partner with the local community and promote holistic development in its core focus areas.
The farmland rented beside the hub has already begun benefiting from Luwani’s guidance, with workers applying composting and mulching techniques to enrich the soil. We look forward to seeing more community farmers adopt these sustainable practices.
