Anyone who has had the incredible experience of running a marathon, and especially one such as the London Marathon, will know what a rollercoaster of emotions such an event brings. Waiting for the race to commence, the sense of trepidation, the exhilaration of the crowd, the expectations and anxieties following months of training in every weather, rain or shine and pushing through excuses and tiredness to ensure that you can be as prepared as possible to face the challenge in front of you. Over 26 miles of gruelling perseverance later with endorphins, exhilaration and exhaustion flooding your system, holding that medal and knowing that you have finished the race is a feeling like no other!
The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27:
'Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.'
This is such a fitting description of the discipline that goes into events like this and is such an inspiring call to us as disciples, to give our all!
We are so deeply grateful to our 2023 Marathon runners!

All of your efforts and training are so greatly appreciated and the funds that you have all raised together will impact so many lives and communities. We are in it together and none of what we do would be possible if it wasn’t for the heroes like you stepping up in remarkable ways to raise funds and awareness for these causes around the world. Thank you so much for joining with us to connect people, to confront poverty and to create potential.

In a rural corner of South Asia, where disability often means isolation, shame or exclusion, a rare and radiant gathering recently took place. Hosted by South Asia Access (an Act4You account) in partnership with Joni and Friends, a U.S.-based Christian non-profit dedicated to serving families affected by disability, the International Family Retreat became a sacred space of rest, restoration and radical belonging.
