It was great to be back with Love Your Neighbour in east Kenya this month. I had carried out a consulting visit back in March and it was decided with the partner organisation that a community programme that would help vulnerable women and other disadvantaged households in their area access capital would be liberating. Therefore, after two online initial training sessions with some committee members we planned out a full initial training of Links’ Micro-Enterprise Development scheme in person.
This committee will serve their local community of Chasimba and focus on women who have been already empowered by LYN through vocational training courses. Many of the women have skills now in a specific trade area but lack both access to financial capital and the business skills and knowhow to succeed. This new 6 strong committee is excited not to only give out loans but also coach the borrowers through their first steps in their businesses becoming full independent and self-sustaining. Links will follow up their progress after the first cycle of loans have been distributed.

In a rural corner of South Asia, where disability often means isolation, shame or exclusion, a rare and radiant gathering recently took place. Hosted by South Asia Access (an Act4You account) in partnership with Joni and Friends, a U.S.-based Christian non-profit dedicated to serving families affected by disability, the International Family Retreat became a sacred space of rest, restoration and radical belonging.
