Here is an update from our friend Sanga who runs New Life Ministry in Shillong, India.
NLCE stands for NEW LIFE CENTRE OF EDUCATION. After 12 years of prayer, labour and deliberation a primary school was opened on the 18th of May 2022 at Langkarcha, a remote village bordering the States of Assam and Meghalaya. The purpose of this centre is for the upliftment of the Langkarcha community and the many non-Christian villages nearby. Currently, the Lucy-Guan Memorial Multi-purpose Center( LGMMC), a building built in memory of our dear friends, Lucy and Guan Chye from Singapore, is being used for this purpose.
In this inaugural academic session, we have 55 children enrolled, ranging from the ages of 4-12 yrs. We have four volunteer teachers with Nelson and Aunty Diana, a dear 78 year old sister in Christ, supervising them. They leave every Monday morning at 5 am on a 3- 4 hour drive to Langkarcha to get school started at 9:30 am. They spend the week at the village and return on Friday after school to make it for the service at City Church, Shillong.
The goal of NLCE is to build an educational institution from the Primary level to either the Higher Secondary or college level. The need, therefore, is for a campus and dedicated fellow believers to serve alongside us through prayer, finances and as staff and ancillary manpower.
As some of the villages are far away, we currently see the need for residential accommodation for the children. Building a second floor at LGMMC would meet this need, so we are working on it to have it ready when school reopens at the beginning of 2023. We also plan to have 4 regular teachers who will be given a salary of Rs 7000/ month.
The primary driving mission of NLCE is to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel”. We believe this educational centre can open up opportunities to fulfil this vision, during our interactions with parents and children who do not yet know the love of Jesus.
If you feel prompted by the Holy Spirit to partner with us in this mission through prayer and/or financial aid, it would be wonderful!

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming Anya to Links for her work experience placement. It was fantastic to have her as part of the team and to share with her the work that goes on behind the scenes to support communities around the world.

Every so often, we get a moment to step back and join with close friends and partners to see the bigger story we’re part of. Links Sundays with our Church partners is one of those moments. It reminds us that mission isn’t something a few specialists do 'over there', it’s the calling of the whole Church, the whole people of God, joining His work of restoring shalom on earth as in Heaven.

Every few years the world pauses to watch something extraordinary. Flags wave, anthems rise and nations pour onto the global stage in a celebration of colour, culture and collective hope. The World Cup becomes a glimpse of what happens when tribes, tongues and nations gather around a shared purpose.
