A few years ago, several articles were written about a lost generation because of the amount of refugees who were displaced. Kids with no education, spending their days in makeshift tents, living day by day with an uncertain future.
But today, after 10 years, it seems that the trend is only growing and according to statistics by UNHCR , at the end of 2021 the number of forcibly displaced people worldwide was 89.3 million. And that’s before the Ukraine crisis.
The only future any one of us can provide some of these people is by giving them tools for advancement. This is what Triumphant Mercy Lebanon is trying to do through opening multiple community centres that are educating, empowering and building lives.
Triumphant Mercy works with Syrian refugees, and the vulnerable Lebanese population, and has been working hard trying to find ways for children to have a future. From teaching them the basic reading and writing skills to actually enabling some to present official exams inside Syria and getting official diplomas opening the way for these kids to join high school if they choose to.
However, education is not only for younger children or only for learning reading, writing or maths - anyone can benefit by learning new skills, attaining new dreams and building resilience.
This is another target of Triumphant Mercy, working to help people in Lebanon to dream again and get out of the state of hopelessness that people are sinking in.
This is done by creating opportunities for people to get ready to pursue their dream. This is done through digital learning, vocational trainings, life skill sessions, personal development sessions and even sports training. No work, no effort goes in vain and we are seeing the results of the investment we are sowing in people, children and adults included.
I do think that educating people is the number one tool that we can bless every generation with, giving them a new mindset so they could become problem solvers, and so they could recognise opportunities and open doors and one day achieve their dreams.
I pray that I, myself, will never stop desiring knowledge and that I will keep being a student all my life: learning the ways of wisdom, and growing in the ways of God.

In a rural corner of South Asia, where disability often means isolation, shame or exclusion, a rare and radiant gathering recently took place. Hosted by South Asia Access (an Act4You account) in partnership with Joni and Friends, a U.S.-based Christian non-profit dedicated to serving families affected by disability, the International Family Retreat became a sacred space of rest, restoration and radical belonging.
