Stepping into Ghana for the very first time felt like walking back into the roots of Links International’s story. It was here, over 40 years ago, that our founders Norman and Grace Barnes first connected with inspiring missionaries and began building the partnerships that would shape Links’ mission. For me to personally have the opportunity to return now, in the wake of our 40th anniversary, felt profoundly prophetic: a reminder of God’s faithfulness across generations and a call to continue Jesus’ work of transformation.

Together with Compassion UK and Big Church Festival, we travelled into the Savannah Region, a rural and beautiful part of the country. At the various Child and Youth Development Centres, we saw the impact of partnership in action. These centres are places of great joy and beautiful, vibrant hope where children are nurtured, educated, and encouraged to dream. Meeting the incredible leaders, seeing the activities, and hearing the laughter of the children was a powerful testimony that transformation is not just a vision, it is happening here and now.

The Ghanaian Church of Pentecost, one of Links’ earliest partners, continues to play a vital role in this story. Spending time at their conference centre in Accra and having the privilege of being able to share at the Pentecost International Worship Centre was an amazing glimpse into their bold, faith-filled vision and global reach. To stand alongside them again, united with great partners, is to see the fruit of long‑standing relationships bearing new life.

In many ways, this trip was not simply a visit... it was a prophetic return to the start, a living reminder that the seeds planted over 40 years ago are still bearing fruit today. From the rural villages of the Savannah Region to the bustling capital city, I witnessed again how partnership brings transformation: children released from poverty, communities strengthened and hope restored in Jesus’ name.

But this story is not ours alone. It is an invitation! Links International exists to mobilise people into mission. Will you join the story? Pray with us. Give generously. Go with us on teams. Together, we can continue building partnerships that change lives and carry forward the vision begun in Ghana over 40 years ago.

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming Anya to Links for her work experience placement. It was fantastic to have her as part of the team and to share with her the work that goes on behind the scenes to support communities around the world.

Every so often, we get a moment to step back and join with close friends and partners to see the bigger story we’re part of. Links Sundays with our Church partners is one of those moments. It reminds us that mission isn’t something a few specialists do 'over there', it’s the calling of the whole Church, the whole people of God, joining His work of restoring shalom on earth as in Heaven.

Every few years the world pauses to watch something extraordinary. Flags wave, anthems rise and nations pour onto the global stage in a celebration of colour, culture and collective hope. The World Cup becomes a glimpse of what happens when tribes, tongues and nations gather around a shared purpose.
